JAAF and Araneta City extend Christmas cheers to frontliners, communities

The J. Amado Araneta Foundation (JAAF), together with Araneta City, distributed warmth this yuletide season to various beneficiaries through the Christmas Cheer program.  In line with Araneta City’s “Comfort and Joys at the City of Firsts” Christmas theme, the Christmas Cheer program has extended thousands of smiles and happiness during the Holiday season, and uplifted the spirits of many Filipinos amidst the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Christmas Cheers for Rizal Residents

Last December 20, JAAF visited Araneta City’s adopted community, the Julio Iglesias Araneta Center Tanay – Gawad Kalinga (JIACT – GK), and distributed Noche Buena packages to its residents.

The community is composed of 160 families, all displaced and survivors of Typhoon Ondoy, with other families from the Core Shelter, totalling to 300 families.

They extended their appreciation to JAAF for this unhampered yearly tradition. “Kahit panahon ng Pamdemya, di nyo sila kinalimutan. Taos-puso pong pasasalamat,” Noli Puig, GK Rizal Head, said.

JAAF also visited Barangay Pintong Bukawe in San Mateo, Rizal to distribute gift packs to families affected by Typhoon Ulysses. Led by JAAF Executive Director Diane Romero, relief packs were turned over to Barangay Captain Josefina Policarpio.

The relief distribution effort at Barangay Pintong Bukawe was supported by RD Foundation, Inc.

Christmas Cheers for Araneta City frontliners

From December 21 to 23, Christmas cheers were given to the City of Firsts’ own frontlines – the sanitation, security, maintenance, and engineering personnel in Araneta City.

Noche Buena gift bags were distributed to each of the frontliners, as a way of giving gratitude and salutation. Araneta City and JAAF recognize the efforts dedicated by every individual in the frontlines, especially in this time of Pandemic.

The recipients were delighted and grateful to receive the gifts and for the thought that came with them. Sonny, a sanitation personnel was overheard saying “Tamang-tama tong natanggap natin. Sinabihan pa naman ako ni misis na bumili ng pang-spaghetti para sa aming Noche Buena. Salamat sa Araneta at sa JAAF.”

Christmas Cheers for Health Frontliners

The Program also spread Christmas cheers to medical frontliners of all the Barangay Health Centers in District III of Quezon City on December 21. Merienda bundles were sent to the health center frontliners to express its gratitude for their untiring service.

The surprise was very much welcome, with the health workers enjoyed their pizza treat. Nurse Arnel Lanaza of Barangay Socorro Health Center in Quezon City sent a thank you message with their photos. Those from Old Balara Health Center are also seen in the photo enjoying their Pizza Hut treat.

On Christmas Day, December 25, JAAF distributed merienda bundles to a number of medical staff and nurses in hospitals in Quezon City. The treats were given in return for their relentless service even on holidays.

The Emergency Room staff of the National Kidney and Transplant Institute, one of the hospital recipients of the Christmas Cheer program, even shared a video to express their gratitude to JAAF.

JAAF and Araneta City’s Christmas Cheer program is in collaboration with ACI, Pizza Hut Philippines, Novotel Manila Araneta City, Uniprom Inc., and Progressive Development Corporation.
