400 families affected by Typhoon Ulysses were assisted by Operation R.E.A.C.H. (Relief Efforts of Araneta City to Help) last November 28.
In partnership with RD Corporation, through RD Foundation, J. Amado Araneta Foundation and volunteers from RD group of companies distributed family relief packs to the residents of Gawad Kalinga Camacho in Brgy. Nangka, Marikina City and Gawad Kalinga Maislap Village in Rodriguez, Rizal, and their neighboring communities.
Each family food packs consisted of 10-kg rice, 4-liter bottled water, sugar, salt, canned gods, instant noodles, coffee and milk. All efforts were coordinated with Gawad Kalinga – Rizal Chapter.
Nanay Emelita of GK Marikina cried when she got the share for her family. “Di ko inakala na mabibiyayaan kami ng ganitong kadami na relief goods. Sampu kami sa bahay na natutulungan nito. Maraming, maraming salamat po. God bless you.”
The Aeta community in Gawad Kalinga Vllage in Sitio Maislap, Barangay San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal was among the recipients of family food packs. Each household representative queued to get their share. Beaming happily, many of them said that Christmas came early for them.
The effect of Typhoon Ulysses is still very evident in the communities. As the Teams went to ground zero, evidences of devastation are still prevalent. All the houses in the communities served were submerged in flood. They, along with thousands of families in typhoon-struck areas, are yet to recover what was lost. Yet, these people remain hopeful. They have strong faith they hang on to in times like Ulysses, Rolly, like what they had with Ondoy.
Donate now to help more families. Cash donations for Typhoon Ulysses victims are still accepted at www.ticketnet.com.ph until December 4, 2020. Click on the Operation REACH links for your pledges.
