The Association of Foundations (AF) held its 48th General Assembly remotely on 29 September 2020. Over 200 participants went online representing 164 member organizations (82% of the roster).

The event was primarily a business meeting which included a presentation of the network’s accomplishments, the Network Aggregate Report for 2019, induction of new members, and the announcement of the newly-elected trustees.

AF President, Ms. Gisela Tiongson, presented the AF Network Aggregate Report (NAR) for 2019. The report showed that AF members collectively spent P13 billion in development projects the bulk of which are in microfinance/microcredit followed by education and health/nutrition.

The keynote speaker, Ms. Cathy Church-Balin of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, spoke about “Leading, Communicating, and Engaging Communities During Times of Crisis.”

Cathy Church-Balin reiterates in her keynote the importance of being open to changing the way we think about what we do and how we work with others when we are facing a crisis like the pandemic.

The event, albeit held virtually, was a happy gathering of development workers most of whom have not seen each other since the implementation of rules related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
