The forum “DEDP: Community Engagement in Education” was held on August 18, 2014, from 9:30 to 11:30 am at the Boardroom of MFI Foundation, Inc. in Pasig City. During the event, Department of Education (DepEd) Undersecretary Mario Deriquito discussed their plan on how to reach-out to “last-mile” learners through a strategic partnership with communities. Discussions focused on the importance of engaging the communities in the Division Education Development Plan (DEDP) and the process of this possible engagement. As a next step, Usec. Deriquito will provide the participants with a draft Memorandum of Agreement that details the terms of engagement between DepEd and community partners, e.g. civil society organizations.
