Invitation to The Hunger Project event, September 16 via Zoom

Dear AF Members, Partners and Colleagues,

Greetings of good health!

May we introduce you to The Hunger Project (THP), an initiative mounted by the business sector to address hunger, malnutrition, and food insecurity in the country, made worse by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Global Nutrition Report poses an ominous fact – the issue of malnutrition is holding back national development. Thus, THP’s mission to contribute to resolving this problem rests on this premise.

THP’s overall strategy is to address the underlying problem of malnutrition. It will support programs, projects, and organizations addressing the urgent need to help the hungry, as it also seeks to introduce frameworks and approaches that address systemic and persistent hunger and malnutrition in the Philippines.

We also recognize that addressing this problem will require the shared effort of all relevant stakeholders from government agencies, private sector, CSOs/NGOs, academe, and communities. For instance, to amplify the government’s initiatives in addressing malnutrition, THP supports the implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action on Nutrition (PPAN) and evolving initiatives on the First 1000 Days. However, given the enormous requirements, we continue to advocate for increased resources, enabling policies, and the formulation of innovative solutions.

It is in this context that we wish to invite you to The Hunger Project event on September 16, 2021, from 10:00 AM–12:00 NN via Zoom. In this event, we will:

·       introduce and launch The Hunger Project;

·       raise awareness and gather support towards sustained engagement to end the country’s persistent and long-standing problem of malnutrition;

·       encourage support for the Philippine Plan of Action on Nutrition, and adoption of pilot sites and/or municipalities for PPAN localization and implementation; and

·       present First 1000 Days projects as possible models for collaboration.

Please see the proposed program below for your reference. Please register at https://bit.ly/THPRegistration to confirm your participation.

For queries or clarifications, please contact the THP Secretariat at hungerprojectsecretariat@gmail.com or Ms. Juliet Labayan by email at jalabayan@pbsp.org.ph or by mobile at 0917-3107717.

We hope you could participate in this event and explore ways to collaborate with THP to end hunger and malnutrition.

Thank you very much!

Sincerely,

OMAN JIAO
