J. Amado Araneta Foundation volunteers do mural painting

April 29, Saturday of the long weekend, for the JAAF Team was spent with volunteers who helped with the Mural Painting Activity at Gawad Kalinga – Julio Iglesias Araneta Center Tanay (GK-JIACT).  The Multi-Purpose Hall of the GK-JIACT was made colorful with the paintings.  The Bayanihan spirit was alive with volunteer employees from the ACI, families, art teachers, community mothers, and the youth.  What a day well spent.

World-renowned music icon Julio Iglesias did a special charity concert entitled Heart of Gold at the Araneta Coliseum last 20 March 2010.  The proceeds of the concert were used to make the Gawad Kalinga village for displaced families.  In 2013, homes were built for Typhoon Ondoy victims from different parts of Rizal who lost theirs during the devastation.  One hundred sixty families were given new homes.  With the support from Araneta City, Gawad Kalinga, and the Province of Rizal, GK-JIACT became a reality.

Since 2013, GK-JIACT has become the adopted community of the Araneta Group, with efforts done through the J. Amado Araneta Foundation.
