PnPH students lead the way in community engagement

Passerelles Numeriques Philippines (PNPh) are incredibly proud of our first-year students who recently completed a rewarding community outreach event in Carcar City!

On June 14, 2024, 70 of our PNPh students joined forces with PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc., in collaboration with the Local Government of Carcar City headed by its dynamic Mayor, Hon. Mario Patricio Barcenas in hosting the “Seminar on Mental Health Awareness and Advancement on Technology for Senior Citizen Officers.” This event was a heartwarming initiative under PLDT and Smart’s #BetterToday conversations on Internet Safety and Mental Health Awareness titled “Higala, Magtabi ‘ta!” This also underscores PLDT group’s pioneering inclusion program IDEATe (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Advocacy through Technology).

Our students played a vital role in training over 200 senior citizens on cybersecurity (scam awareness) and technology. Before stepping into their teaching roles, they attended an insightful orientation on mental health awareness, digital literacy and internet safety provided by PLDT and Smart.

The event was not just about learning—it was filled with joy and interaction! Through engaging role plays, songs, and dances, our students and the senior citizens shared invaluable moments of connection and understanding.

This experience not only helped bridge the digital gap for the senior citizens but also raised our students’ awareness on important issues like mental health.
A big thank you to everyone involved for making this event a huge success! Together, we are building a safer and more connected community.
