True to its CHOICE value of commitment to society and environment, Del Monte Philippines thru Del Monte Foundation, donated classroom chairs and sets of teacher’s table and chair made from upcycled single-use plastic waste materials from the Cannery in Bugo.
The recipient schools were: San Jose Integrated School in Quezon, Dalwangan National High School in Malaybalay City, Manolo Fortich National High School and San Miguel Elementary School in Manolo Fortich, and Libona National High School and San Isidro Elementary School in Libona. Each received 50 pieces of armchairs and a teacher’s table with chair.
It takes about 30 kilograms of plastic material to produce 1 armchair. Plastic waste materials from the company’s manufacturing facility in Bugo were transported to the recycling facility of Envirotech Waste Recycling, Inc. in Davao for processing into usable chairs for school children.
