Tagakaolo families in Malungon, Sarangani receive livelihood support

On June 20, 2024, Conrado & Ladislawa Alcantara Foundation, Inc. (Alcantara Foundation) turned-over livelihood support to 38 Tagakaolo families in Barangays Tamban, Upper Mainit, and Upper Lumabat in Malungon, Sarangani Province. The goal was to uplift the livelihoods of Indigenous Peoples (IP) families in the area.

The 3 beneficiary groups, representing the Tagakaolo community, chose “Bigasan” as their livelihood project. Each group received essential materials and goods for their project, including 22 (25-kg) sacks of rice per group, a logbook for record-keeping, a digital weighing scale, and bags for retailing rice. The groups will independently manage the profits generated from their endeavors, with regular monitoring from the Alcantara Foundation and the Consuelo Zobel Alger Foundation.

This initiative is part of Project Kaklung dad Nga (Protect Our Children), a collaborative project between Alcantara Foundation and Consuelo Zobel Alger Foundation. The project aims to strengthen Indigenous Peoples’ families through tailored parent mentoring sessions focusing on their children’s safety and holistic growth and development.
