XSF engages in ‘Wildlife is Here’ 2024, USAID Day in Bukidnon

In this year’s celebration of World Wildlife Day, the Xavier Science Foundation, Inc. participated as a co-presenter in the ‘Wildlife Is Here’, an annual week-long event spearheaded by the Philippine Eagle Foundation, held at the Robinsons Place Valencia on March 5.

This year’s focus was on highlighting the conservation efforts undertaken by various stakeholders including government agencies, academic institutions, and civil society organizations dedicated to preserving and conserving the biodiversity and wildlife in Bukidnon.   The launching of the event was graced with the presence and messages from the invited government officials from Bukidnon. Thereafter, a ribbon-cutting ceremony then opened the exhibit where civil society organizations like the Xavier Science Foundation, Inc. and government offices such as the Protected Area Management Office protecting two of the country’s largest mountains–Mt. Kitanglad and Mt. Kalatungan showcased the conservation efforts made to protect the landscapes and wildlife and recognize the flourishing biodiversity of the island.

On the following day, as part of the USAID Day celebration, indigenous partner communities of the USAID INSPIRE grantees from Bukidnon graced the event.  They were welcomed with messages by Dr. Jayson Ibañez, Director of Operations at the Philippine Eagle Foundation, Mr. Roel Ravanera, Executive Director of the Xavier Science Foundation, and Ms. Rebecca Paz, Chief of Party for USAID INSPIRE. The USAID INSPIRE Project, which both the PEF and XSF are grantees of, was commended for its efforts in assisting and empowering Lumad communities to live in harmony with nature.

The program ended with a community dance led by the Kibongcog-Tigwahanon community of San Fernando, Bukidnon.

The week-long event commenced on March 5 and concluded on March 11. ###
