The Zero Extreme Poverty 2030 (ZEP2030) Movement in La Union kicked off with a planning session with multi-stakeholder network (MSN) members in San Fernando City on June 1, 2023. The ZEP2030 team was led by Liza Lim of the Institute of Social Order (ISO), Local Convenor for La Union, together with representatives from the Association of Foundations (AF), Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), and UNDP Philippines.
The MSN agreed to craft a Memorandum of Agreement to formalize and firm up the collaboration. One of the action steps planned is to harmonize the poverty data among the MSN members. On June 2, the ZEP2030 team met with Mayor Hermenegildo Gualberto of San Fernando City to present the highlights of the MSN’s discussion, and seek the LGU’s support for the local convergence. The team also visited two of the barangays that are being considered as pilot communities for ZEP2030.
